Wild City – MKW
2 May, 2021, 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Can animals and humans coexist as urban citizens?
Wild City is a mini urban landscape that considers animals as citizens. Originally created by artist Kathy Holowko in collaboration with over 60 children, Wild City will be presented as a thriving, green metropolis shared equally by humans and animals.
At the week-long exhibition, children may become field naturalists and explore the landscape using a check sheet, searching for animals and their habitats.
In a creative learning workshop, children will consider how we can improve the quality of living in our urban ecosystems by being more considerate to animals. Working with Kathy, they’ll create new habitats and infrastructure to welcome wild animals to their urban landscape.
This collaborative exhibition investigates environmental issues and creatively explores possible future visions.
This project was seeded by City of Melbourne through Artplay’s New Ideas Lab.
Available during hub hours, workshop Sun 2 May, 1pm – 2.30pm
