2026 Festa Junina – World Cup Brazil Vs Haiti
The Festa Junina was introduced by the Portuguese in Brazil during the Colonial period and celebrated nationwide in during June.
It is part of the Brazilian midwinter celebrations. Various aspects of the festival originate from the European midsummer celebrations, such as a large bonfire and a maypole decorated with colourful string pennant flags around which people dance. Many of these celebrations now occur with influence from Brazilian rural society.
In Melbourne we try to replicate this culture with the flags the dress code of the country fold and the dance which everybody can join in.
This year we bring more as Brazil palys its second 2026 World Cup match against Haiti in the morning. Come and celebrate with us!
