Spaces for Hire

Main Hall

The Main Hall is a large multi-use function space filled with natural light and polished wooden floors. The space can accommodate seated audiences of up to 200 seating or 330 standing. Interior features include a large central stage with projector screen and adjoining green room, ground floor access and proximity to accessible toilets and showers. There is heating throughout, and ventilation to expel hot air (the Main Hall is not airconditioned). Regular bookings include performances, conferences, cultural gatherings, markets and music events.

Supper Room

Available to book as an extension to the Main Hall or as a standalone space, the Supper Room is suitable for small to medium functions, including celebrations, exhibitions, seminars, and recreational activities. Facilities include heating and cooling systems, semi-sprung floors, table and chair set ups and kitchen access.

The Supper Room can accommodate up to 100 people (theatre style) or 50 people (seated theatre style).

Presentation Room

Located on the first floor of Kensington Town Hall, the Presentation Room caters for up to 25 people (seated at tables). Ideal for seminars, conferences, workshops, classes, and presentations the space is well-lit with natural light from large windows throughout. Additional features include, a PC with wireless keyboard and mouse, 60-inch LCD screen, wall-housed input plate for VGA, audio and HDMI control panel, conference call technology, Wi-Fi access and carpeted flooring throughout.

Creative Hub

Hire the Creative Hub for video conferencing, workshops, classes and presentations. The space features an AV system with HDMI connection. The Creative Hub is available for ongoing or one-off events. Includes Wi-Fi. Caters for up to 20 people (seated at tables). Hirer must provide their own laptop for use with AV in this space.

Rehearsal Room

Located on the first floor of Kensington Town Hall and catering for up to 10 people. The Rehearsal Room is a multi-purpose space for meetings, creative development, and other small group activities. Facilities include, two trestle tables, up to 15 chairs (which can be arranged to suit your requirements), Wi-Fi and a carpeted floor.

Studio

The Studio is Kensington Town Hall’s downstairs working and rehearsal space. Ideal for creative development or office work the Studio is located adjacent to accessible toilets and showers. Interior features include, white walls and lots of natural light making this space perfect for practicing scripts, routines, filming and other solo or small group activities.

We don’t offer catering services however you are welcome to organise your own. There is kitchen access onsite. Please note we have a ‘no open flame policy’.

Yes, the curfew for events at Kensington Town Hall is 11pm. At 11pm house lights are turned on; all amplified sound must stop, and your guests must leave the venue. Your bump out can continue after that time.

Yes, there is a full industrial kitchen on site available for hirer use (upon arrangement). Please note we do not supply crockery, cutlery, glassware, or linens. Please specify your desire for kitchen access at the time of booking.

Yes, private functions, weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations are permitted at Kensington Town Hall.

However, please note that all private hire bookings are charged at a corporate event rate, except for registered Not-for-Profit organisations and charities.

The Presentation Room, Creative Hub, Rehearsal Room, Supper Room and the Studio have climate control, and there is heating available in the Main Hall.

Please note there are currently power limitations at Kensington Town Hall. Please inform us about your specific power requirements upon booking to ensure we can accommodate your needs.

Yes, Kensington Town Hall has a total ban on the following: open flames, pyrotechnics, glitter and confetti. Please note, smoking ceremonies are welcomed at Kensington Town Hall as an exception to our open flame ban. However, we ask that all materials are lit while outside of the venue and brought inside to complete the ceremony.

Please discuss your intention to hold a smoking ceremony with the bookings team as we  may have to turn off or isolate the smoke alarms.

Yes, we require all hirers to have their own public liability insurance with cover to at least 20 million dollars.

Kensington Town Hall is an unlicenced venue. Hirers can obtain a limited liquor licence for alcohol service at their event. For more information about how to acquire a liquor license please visit https://www.vic.gov.au/get-new-liquor-licence

If your event has more than 50 people attending or if there is alcohol being served staff members will be required to attend your event. Furthermore, if your venue has technical requirements, venue supervisors are required. Additional staffing may be required depending on your event details. Please contact the Presenter Services Coordinator to request a quote specific to your event needs.

Bookings at Kensington Town Hall require a tailored quote. Pricing will be dependent on your desired activity, but will comprise of Venue Hire, Equipment Hire, Staff and Cleaning.
