Material Poetics of Migration: (re)Imagining a threshold ritual of Tamil women

The solo exhibition by Varuni Kanagasundaram explores how traditional threshold ritual and material practices performed by women from the Tamil diaspora is (re)imagined as contemporary art works. Installation of artworks in clay and textile, some created with communities in Australia and overseas, allows the audience to encounter a place of material transformation, prompting dialogues on the processes of continuity and change occurring through migration.
