The Carrot Show

Hayley Edwards

A carrot-themed exploration of surviving during impossible times, from the creator of ‘Shitbag’.

Welcome to The Carrot Show.

Following the smash-hit success of Shitbag and the burnout that followed during increasingly disastrous political times, Hayley Edwards turned to making a giant paper-mâché carrot.

In this joyfully absurd new work, Edwards reunites with multi award-winning designer and dramaturg Justin Gardam (Bloomshed, Shitbag). Together, they combine cardboard, projection, fragments of an old puppet theatre from Edwards’ maternal great-grandparents and Melbourne’s Carrot Man to ask how artists can keep making work in an increasingly unstable world.

From the team behind Shitbag:

Winner of the Edinburgh Fringe Touring Award – Melbourne Fringe 2024
Winner of the Artform Shaker Award – Melbourne Fringe 2024
Nominee for Best Theatre – Melbourne Fringe 2024
Winner for Best Performance in Independent Theatre – Green Room Awards 2025
Nominee for Best Writing in Independent Theatre – Green Room Awards 2025
Winner of the Queer Performer Award – Binge Fringe, Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025
