Music Company: Grace Ferguson, Nico Niquo, R. Rebeiro, E Fishpool

11 July, 2021, 2:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Music Company brings a one time showcase of four distinct artists to the Flat Floor Pavilion at Meat Market in North Melbourne. Although loosely tied, the common thread between all of them can be found within a single, solitary, healing listen. Find yourself a space in these moments on Sunday 11 July 2021. Each of the artists has worked on a unique performance for this location, exploring the vast space or the Yamaha grand piano within it.

The Artists

E Fishpool is a Yuin artist based across Budawang and Ngunawal/Ngunnawal/Ngambri Country. The artist maps processes of unlearning and (re)learning identity through sampling sound, dialect and field recordings.

Grace Ferguson is a pianist, composer, sound designer and piano teacher who employs music and sound as a creative device to depict folded meanings, memories and shifting psychological states through a feminine lens. Coalescing composed and improvised material, her performances simultaneously draw from her classical training and significantly depart from it.

Nico Niquo is Nico Callaghan. Since 2015, he has released electronic music with Orange Milk (US) and Daisart (AU), among others, including Music Company. He has an album slated for release later in 2021.

As a percussionist working with electronic and acoustic sounds, R. Rebeiro explores probability as an artistic methodology to enact rhythmic expression. Combining both the use and misuse of instruments, R. Rebeiro exemplifies a musical practice that is simultaneously improvisational and compositional.
