LYCEUM HIGHWAY & Metropolis Monologues
Melbourne Writer's Theatre
Immerse yourself in the world premiere of the stunning new play LYCEUM HIGHWAY, written by K V Adams, directed by Brooke Fairley and starring acclaimed actors Kevin Dee and Laura Iris Hill (pictured).
Winner of the 2025 Amethyst Award, this compelling drama that unfolds on a barren desert highway asks: Can we run away from the secrets of our past – or will they chase us, demanding to be heard?
A richly human story in which the comic brilliance of Dee (Strange Bedfellows, Jack Irish, Underbelly) teams up with the dramatic power of Hill (Twelfth Night, Hamlet, Ghosts) to bring you a theatrical adventure that’s full of twists, turns and surprises.
Following an Intermission, Metropolis Monologues will begin at 8pm. These entertaining 10-minute plays, featuring stories of humour and pathos, mystery and history, have been penned by the playwrights of Melbourne Writers’ Theatre. Directed by Jennifer Munday and performed by a dazzling line-up of actors that includes Amir Rahimzadeh, Sarah Hamilton (both pictured), Nicholas Steain, Janine McGrath, Marc Opitz, Katrina Mathers, Tony Adams and Melanie Hillman.
From 12th – 14th March we’ll be showcasing works by Maree Collie, Donna de Palma, Peter Farrar, Gary Helmore and Louise Hopewell. From 15th – 18th March, enjoy monologues by Fiona Corke, Karyn Lee Greig, Michael Olsen, Ros Varley and Barbara Yazbeck. Striking stories captured by a single voice, monologues draw the audience into another world, another time, another person’s life, and Metropolis Monologues is a moment in theatre you won’t want to miss. Two new shows; two theatrical experiences, performed under the one roof.
Tickets provide entry to both shows. We can’t wait to share Lyceum Highway and Metropolis Monologues with you.
