Having been born and raised in Kenya, Vincent never thought moving overseas would mean that he would become a part of Australia, his new home. His comedy reflects his struggles about his Kenyan life compared to life in Australia, and becoming Australianised!
Vincent Tshaka tackles the ridiculous and often undocumented facts about being an immigrant in an era of globalisation. Presenting the funny side of sport, camping, the struggles of having African parents and Aussie kids, privilege, ockerism and dating from a bicultural twilight zone.
According to Vincent Tshaka “At this point, I’m neither Kenyan as people in Kenya feel I am too Australian, but I’m not fully accepted in Australia because, I still have an accent – I don’t look and sound like an Aussie, hey mate? “Australianised” is a show that focuses on the turning point that comes for all immigrants – of never wanting to let go of the place you once called home and embracing the place you now call home. “
