A one day workshop for VCE level and music teachers who are curious to learn about how psychological science can help them to perform closer to their practice room ability in exams or on stage.

Saturday 30 March (VCE Students) – 10am – 4pm | $35 – $50 | Book online

The workshop offers the courageous music student the opportunity to experience these skills within the safe and supportive environment of the workshop.

Come willing to step a little out of your comfort zone.

Singers will be expected to sing and instrumentalist need to bring your instrument for you to perform with. You also will need to bring a practiced and prepared piece that you would like to perform in the workshop.

You will learn to

  • strengthen the attentional muscle
  • fine tune motivation
  • what is controllable (and what is not) in the context of music performance
  • expand your willingness to have uncomfortable feelings that turn up on stage
  • and how that may lead to higher quality of performance, increased enjoyment and improvement in general wellbeing.

This is an introductory workshop of empirical research based psychological skills that can help you when incorporated into practice, planning and performance. The course is informed by mindfulness research, Evolutionary Theory, Flow Theory, Self Determination Theory, Compassion Focused Therapy and ACT Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
