THE PIANO TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGE

Unwanted pianos end up in landfill.

In 8 years, the number of pianos dumped in Australia will fill the MCG!

This is a tragedy not only because of the impact their dumping will have on the environment, but also because most discarded pianos contain quality old forest and sometimes rare timbers as well as thousands of other reusable and recyclable parts.

Pianos Recycled, a Melbourne based circular economy startup with a mission to find new purpose for unwanted pianos are proud to be partnering with the Victorian Wood Workers Association to present The Piano Transformation Challenge.

The Challenge is a competition and exhibition for local artisans and craftspeople (of every level of proficiency) to creatively design and build objects from the parts of unwanted pianos. Imagination and creativity will be as important as design and handcraft skills.

All Challenge entries will be exhibited at the Meat Market Stables Tuesday 22 October to 2 November 2019 and exhibits will be available for sale.

See you there!
